Seated vs Lying Down – What’s the Difference?

Both seated and lying down sessions provide the same oxygen therapy benefits, however the key difference is the time it takes for the chamber to fully pressurise.

Lying down sessions pressurise more quickly, typically within 5–10 minutes, meaning you spend more of your session time at full pressure. These sessions are ideal if you want to maximise your time and fully relax in a reclined position.

Seated sessions take longer to pressurise, usually around 20–30 minutes, which means a portion of the session is spent gradually reaching full pressure. These are a great option for those who prefer to sit upright or are new to HBOT

Both options are effective, it simply depends on your preference and how you’d like to experience your session.

Why Multiple Sessions Are Recommended

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy works by gradually supporting your body at a cellular level. While some people notice benefits after just a few sessions, the most noticeable and lasting results typically come with consistency.

Oxygen supports processes such as:

  • Tissue repair

  • Reduced inflammation

  • Improved circulation

  • Cellular regeneration

These processes build over time, which is why a course of sessions is often recommended rather than a one-off visit.

Think of it like going to the gym — results come with consistency.

Most clients begin with a block of sessions (5–10) and continue depending on their goals.

You can easily book a single session online to get started. If you decide you’d like to continue, packages can be purchased in person at the clinic.

This allows us to take the time to understand your goals and recommend the most suitable option for you.

Many clients choose to begin with one session and then move onto a package to see the best results.
